Dalia Kinsey Headshot

Meet Dalia Kinsey
Because Health Shouldn’t Be Biased

The Dietitian Who Won’t Let Systemic Bias Write Your Story (or Bore You to Death with Bland Sessions and Meal Plans)

Ever felt dismissed by healthcare because of the color of your skin, your gender identity, or the size of your body? I’ve been there — and I decided those systems don’t get the final word.

Now, as a licensed dietitian, keynote speaker, and author of Decolonizing Wellness, I help communities and organizations create spaces where QTBIPOC people can access care without shame or erasure.

Why I Founded Kinsey Wellness

From Surviving Bias to Building Care That Heals

I'm Dalia Kinsey: Registered Dietitian, podcaster, and author of Decolonizing Wellness — a practical, affirming guide to self-care for queer and trans people of color (liberation oriented folks love it too).

Through my podcast, Body Liberation for All, and speaking at conferences, workshops, and retreats, I’ve helped thousands of people shift their relationship with wellness.

My work and mission have been featured at Yale University, Minnesota Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Charis Books and Famm, where I’ve shared my journey to building inclusive, liberation-centered care.

More importantly, I am a QTBIPOC person who has survived systemic fat-phobia, racism, and medical neglect.

I built Kinsey Wellness so others wouldn’t have to fight as hard for the care they deserve.

A Purpose Forged Through Fire (Okay… a Dumpster Fire)

In my mid-twenties, I was sick. Hair falling out in clumps. Hand tremors were so intense that every time I put on eyeliner, I felt like I was taking my life into my own hands — and my cats looked deeply concerned when I trimmed their claws.

Fatigue was so relentless I fell asleep driving home from work on most days, even after 10 to 13 hours of sleep the night before.

Doctors blamed my now-fat body, ignoring every other symptom (sound familiar?).

It took years to discover I had Grave’s Disease. Racist and fat-phobic bias nearly cost me my life.

That mess lit a fire inside: people like me deserve care that sees us, not erases us.

Beyond Me: Riding the Waves of Revolution

When George Floyd was murdered, the grief in our communities collided with chronic racialized stress.

I realized there was little guidance for marginalized folks navigating ongoing trauma—not just flashpoint moments.

Kinsey Wellness grew from one-on-one care to workshops, trainings, and keynotes for communities ready to actually do better.

Truth is, the revolution we hoped for didn’t come.
Instead of ending police violence, we got a commercialized Juneteenth no one asked for.

Still—we rise.
This work is ancestral, strategic, and deeply sacred.
And we’re just getting started.

Energize Your Mind and Body

We intentionally center Queer, Trans, Non-Binary, BIPOC, neurodivergent and chronically ill people because the wellness industry built its empire exploiting us.

This space isn’t about clean eating or chasing “high vibes.” It’s about rest, rage, and reclaiming your body on your own terms.

We co-create healing pathways with you — no guilt, no pressure, no shame.

Where Healing Meets Justice

We draw on anti-diet nutrition training, racial justice studies, minority stress theory (the long-term effects of discrimination), and ancestral healing traditions.

The result: practical, culturally grounded care that promotes freedom from oppressive health norms.

Care that honors where you come from AND supports where you're going.

The Power of Team Spirit

Kinsey Wellness includes liberation oriented collaborators who share our values. We hold the same mission: dismantle oppressive wellness norms and reclaim joy.

Every program, workshop, or podcast episode is infused with lived experience, pushback against grind-and-hustle shame, and radical care.

Kinsey Wellness Values:

And just so we’re clear—here’s what those values look like in real life:

Black lives matter.
Queer and trans lives matter.
Every gender—binary or beyond—is valid, worthy, and sacred.
Trans women are women. Trans men are men. Nonbinary folks are real. Period.
Love is love and deserves full protection under the law.
COVID is real.
Climate change is real.
No human being is “illegal,” especially not on stolen Indigenous land.

If any of that makes you uncomfortable, this is your cue to kick rocks and take your stanky ass energy elsewhere.
Don’t follow. Don’t buy. Don’t email me to explain yourself.
This isn’t a debate.
This is a vibe check—and you failed.

I’ve done my time being gracious, now I’m choosing peace and protection.
I’m not centering fragile feelings over real harm.
I’m Black. I’m queer. I’m genderfluid.
I’m tired of hateful shenanigans.

And I’m building a space where marginalized people can breathe deeper, feel safer, and be; without shape-shifting to survive.
If that vision resonates with you, welcome.

If not, as previously stated, kick rocks and move along. This work is sacred. And it’s not for everyone.
